Family and Community

FAMILY:
I took the kids on a mini break down the beach. It was good for all of us. It was just myself and the children and one of the kids friends. We had a lovely time, we lit a fire, toasted marshmallows, watched dvds and explored rock pools and the local beaches. I had time to kick back and read a book and the kids had time to run and yell to their hearts content. We came home feeling rejuvenated and a lot more relaxed. It’s a good reminder to take time out and reconnect with yourself and your family.
COMMUNITY:
I live in the city of Greater Dandenong. Now I know some look down their nose at this area (and if you are one of those people shame on you for being so shallow!) but it is where my home is, where my children go to school and will most likely grow up and it is my community. The area actually has a lot of great things about it. Some great public schools, some fabulous parks and play grounds, a large shopping centre, a fabulous market (Dandenong Market), its very culturally diverse, has access to the city and beach or hills is easy from the many main roads and highways coming into the area, The Drum Theatre , it is a large business hub (known as Melbournes 2nd city) and more!
To read more about the area go here
In my 6 years of being in business I have photographed only 2 families in this area. The majority of clients reside in the inner suburbs, some in the western burbs and some in the north. Not many seem to come from my neck of the woods!
So to get to my point!
I will now be offering discounted sessions/packages for clients who reside in the City Of Greater Dandenong. If interested please email for more details through the contact page on my website.
Some images from our trip:
My eldest, aged 9 now, stuns me sometimes how fast they grow and change before our eyes!

Don’t ask… really.

‘Bushy Island’ created by Jaime age 6 years.

The ‘creator’ (she spent over an hour collecting things from the surrounding beach to build her work of art)

technically this sucks. But it doesnt matter, he’s my darling youngest, now aged 4 yrs. He was singing to me as i took this ‘ You are my sunshine, my berry sunshine’

My GREEN link: Dandenong Council Environment Events Program

I echo the comments about the area and the oppertunities in it (don’t forget the Might Hawks (possible 2008 Priemers) train just down the road at Waverly Park).
Love the photos especially ‘Bushy Island’!

What a cool thing for you to write about. Our pride in our community is an important thing! I hope that some of your neighbors are taking you up on it.
And I LOVE these images. Especially the little designs your daughter created. I used to do that kind of thing all of the time as a kid. Ah . . . childhood!
